MegaCARE Missions, Founded by Bishop T.D. Jakes, Sets Efforts on a Cleaner, Healthier Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex
Humanitarian arm of The Potter’s House to dispatch hundreds to clean up DFW neighborhoods this weekend;
Life-saving blood drive set for May 19

WHAT:  T.D. Jakes and MegaCARE Missions, the non-profit, humanitarian arm of The Potter’s House, has an extensive history of community service throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex and will undertake two vital community service efforts.  On Saturday, April 20, 2013, they will continue that positive outreach as they deploy hundreds of volunteers in celebration of Earth Day for beautification and life-saving efforts through a local blood drive.

WHEN:  Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 9 a.m. – 1p.m. in Dallas and Fort Worth

WHERE:  Convenient Dallas and Fort Worth locations:
Dallas: Volunteers will conduct litter pick up, community clean-up and support local residents with debris removal from 9 a.m. – 1p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 starting at 3300 West Moreland, Dallas, Texas.

Ft. Worth: Volunteers will clean-up more than six apartment complexes in the Woodhaven neighborhood on Saturday, April 20, 2013 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. They will meet at 8 a.m. at The Potter’s House of Ft. Worth, 1270 Woodhaven Blvd., Fort Worth, Texas.
WHY: Beautification events are designed to protect the vitality and integrity of our neighborhoods and revitalize neighborhoods by helping residents to combat deterioration, litter and graffiti. To date, MegaCARE Missions has removed more than 35,000 pounds of debris from DFW neighborhoods and added more than 2900 trees to the metropolitan landscape. These efforts make a huge difference for residents as it improves the appearance and livability of their neighborhoods, increases property value and improves their quality of life.
“Once you come in and clean things up, you restore hope for that community and the residents will start to invest in the area,” said Dwaine Caraway, Dallas City Council Member, District 4. “There is also an economic impact of the clean-up efforts and we are very proud and appreciative of the things MegaCARE is doing.”

SAVING LIVES IN THE METROPLEX WITH PREVENTATIVE MEASURES

WHAT: In addition to the community clean-up events and its international humanitarian outreach, MegaCARE Missions works year-round to provide services for those in need in the DFW community. On May 19, 2013, MegaCARE Missions will host a blood drive at all three campuses of The Potter’s House in partnership with Carter Blood Care.
