Getting Thru Divore
Getting Thru Divorce

Growing up in the church the way I was raised and for many others, this subject was taboo. “you gonna bust hell wide open” is what I heard so often when the saints got a divorce. This is a sensitive subject depending the religious culture you aspire from.

God hates divorce, like He hates pride, backbiting, sowing discord among the brethren, proud look, heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet running swiftly to mischief, lying tongues etc., in other words He hates SIN.

1 John 1:9- “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Can someone say ALL.

Divorce is traumatic. Not only for the man and woman but the children. divorce means to split or come apart, but one definition I read was to rip or rend or tear apart. Most cases its painful for all.

Three things I share with families faced with this dilemma:

  1. Though hurt, time heals, FORGIVE the ex spouse. If you don’t, bitterness sets in, then anger. Eccl. 7:9- Anger rests in the bosom of fools.
  2. FORGIVE yourselves! You can’t change what went wrong! A famous person I know said, “you can’t change where you been, but you can change where you are going.” T.D. Jakes
  3. Please seek professional counseling for the whole family

Philippians 4:7-“And the peace of God that passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
