Position: Inventory Control Specialist
Job Duties
Summary
The Inventory Control/Warehouse Specialist will maintain records of materials in inventory and on order. Monitors reorder points and initiates action to replenish stock. Reconciles discrepancies in inventories and notifies supervisor of irregularities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Monitors and maintains current inventory levels in Clover POS and Studio Enterprise software; processes purchasing orders as required; tracks orders and investigates problems.
- Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory on an ad hoc, monthly and annual basis, and reconciles actual stock count to computer-generated reports.
- Receives, unpacks, labels, and delivers goods; re-stocks items as necessary. Organizes stock rooms and labels shelves as needed.
- Cycle count materials based on the “ABC” grouping system which will be monitored by the Inventory Control Lead.
- Research inventory discrepancies and submit accurate inventory and bin location reports. Assist in determining root causes on inventory discrepancies and help implement corrective actions to eliminate repetitive errors.
- Works with Customer Service and Sales teams to process and document returns as required following established procedures.
- Performs routine clerical duties including entering and updating information in the POS and Studio Enterprise system, answering telephones, and assisting customers.
- May serve as cashier and handle cash and cash-related payments.
- May lead, guide, and train staff employees, interns, and/or volunteers performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of volunteers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that is above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Ability to work from 6:30 am – 2 pm on Sundays and some Wednesday nights from 7 pm to 9 pm and other non-traditional work hours as needed.
- Must be able to travel up to 5% of the year.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Ability to learn new software systems and procedures quickly.
- Knowledge of best practices in Inventory Control and warehouse management. Knowledgeable about supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering.
- Ability to reconcile stock counts to report data.
- Database management skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.
- Ability to receive, stock, and/or deliver goods.
- Clerical, and/or office skills.
Distinguishing Characteristics
- Position requires: a) Monitoring and maintaining current inventory levels, including reconciling stock counts to computer reports; b) Initiates action to replenish stock by processing purchase orders and other related paperwork; c) Receiving, unpacking, and delivering items to shelves or requesting departments; d) Inspects shipments for accuracy and completeness, and resolves inconsistencies; and e) Performs routine clerical duties in support of unit.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Considerable physical activity. May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office or warehouse work environment.
- Ability to handle hand truck or pallet jack for inventory movement.
