DALLAS,
Sept. 3, 2009 - Bishop T. D. Jakes is bringing back one of his most popular
events. Following a five-year hiatus, the inspirational and empowering Woman,
Thou Art Loosed conference returns to Dallas when Jakes hosts the event
Oct. 15-17 at The Potter’s House.
Created
by Jakes, who TIME magazine has called “America’s Best Preacher,” Woman,
Thou Art Loosed began in 1992 as Sunday School curriculum designed to
encourage women to find support and hope in one another and in God as they become
stronger leaders in their families, churches, communities and businesses.
Its uplifting message has now been transformed into a best-selling book, a
stage play, a GRAMMY®-nominated CD, a box office top-10 hit movie in 2004 and a
conference series that has been attended by more than 500,000 women from around
the world.
“As
more and more women face the pressures of balancing their households, children,
and careers, many are met with tough challenges and I want to give a spiritual
uplift and a word of encouragement to all women,” said Jakes, founder and
pastor of the 30,000 member Dallas-based The Potter’s House church.
Along
with T. D. Jakes, the conference will feature notable speakers and artists
including: Serita Jakes, executive director of women’s ministries at The
Potter’s House; Pastor Sheryl Brady, pastor of The River, Durham, NC; Dr.
Cynthia James of Oakland, CA; Mrs. Dodie Osteen, mother of Joel
Osteen, pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, TX, the largest church in the
U.S.; GRAMMY® Award-winning music artist Kirk Franklin and more.
This year’s theme is “Thankful Women,” in
which women from all backgrounds and cultures will unite to celebrate one
another. Jakes is calling 50,000 thankful women to join him on Twitter as
he works to help change the lives of women worldwide during the Woman, Thou
Art Loosed conference. Jakes will share inspiring, life-changing
messages leading up to and during the event. To follow Jakes and share
their own Thankful Tweet, women can simply click on the link http://twitter.com/TPHDallas.
