Bishop T.D. Jakes
Returns Home to Host W.V. Conference
“God
has truly blessed me in the growth of my ministry and with a number of people
transitioning to new careers, establishing new businesses and looking for
inspiration, I felt compelled to invite the nation back to the place where my
ministry began, the place where the foundation of my ministry was built.”

DALLAS, July 14, 2009—For the first time in more than a
decade, Bishop T. D. Jakes, renowned pastor of The Potter’s House church in
Dallas, Texas, returns home to Charleston, WV, for a three-day, power-packed
conference where he will encourage
attendees to persevere beyond current challenges in their life. The
Birthing Place conference will be held August 13, 14 & 15 at the
Charleston Civic Center and includes afternoon and evening worship services
and live entertainment from some of the country’s most notable speakers and
artists.
Joining Bishop Jakes on the program are: Bishop Noel Jones, pastor of City of Refuge,
Gardena, CA; Pastor Sheryl Brady, pastor of The River, Durham, NC; and Bishop Glen A. Staples, pastor of The Temple of Praise, Washington, DC. The event will also feature legendary gospel group the Clark Sisters and GRAMMY® Award-winning Israel Houghton and New Breed.
The conference is intended to steer attendees toward their purpose and inspire
them to realize their goals and dreams. One highlight of the event is the
Bishop Jakes Small Beginnings Tour. The shuttle tour will feature significant places that transformed and birthed the
ministry of Bishop Jakes from a locally-known pastor with a vision to an
international preacher and speaker impacting many throughout the world.
“I was 19 when I first became a minister, and I remember facing challenges and setbacks that were extremely difficult and at times made me feel like giving up,” said Jakes. “But with God by my side, I pushed through all
the obstacles and I want to encourage others to do the same.”
