MegaCare Distributes 900 trees

to further its green initiatives

DALLAS, April 22, 2009—In an effort to improve the environment within the local communities, MegaCARE donated 900 trees in the Dallas area during the month of March. MegaCARE is the non-profit philanthropic organization founded by Bishop T.D. Jakes.

Steve Houser, Committee Chair for the Dallas Urban Forest Advisory  states, “The Potter’s House planting project is an exemplary effort and a shining example of leadership in being a good stewardship of our environment and our urban forest. When individuals and groups take ownership in our community assets…positive changes occur that can transform an entire neighborhood. Clearly, The Potter’s House officials understand that trees reduce crime and the level of aggression in a community. Trees provide a better quality of life because they are the very foundation of our urban infrastructure.”

According to ecological experts, trees provide multiple benefits, including improving air quality, energy consumption, and preservation of the environment. Because of this, MegaCAREis dedicated to supporting green initiatives. In addition to planting a combined total of 900 Afghan Pine and Eastern Red Cedar trees, MegaCARE has participated in several ongoing green endeavors worldwide by supplying eco sensitive clean water programs in Africa; planting trees on well sites; building affordable homes that are energy efficient and solar powered and providing disaster relief cleanup.

“Our intent at The Potter’s House has always been to serve the people, and through our MegaCARE program, we have delivered critical support to those in need,” said Bishop Jakes.  It seems that others are learning that all of us have a responsibility to leave the world in better condition than we found it. We all breathe the same air, drink the same water and use the same soil. As a result, we must learn to work together.”
