As Director of The Potter’s House Medical Ministry, she is spearheading this event along with Dr. Rita Twiggs, Associate Pastor of The Potter’s House. “As a faith based initiative, we want to help the community to develop an awareness of health care and lifestyle issues that are affecting them every day. It’s never too early nor is it ever too late to make a change for the better,” said Dr. Stewart-Pete. “It is for this reason that we are reaching out to the whole family including the caregivers, infants, and the elderly.” The event launches on Saturday, April 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is made possible in part by PacifiCare, a United Healthcare Company. The Kids Zone is made possible in part by the Law Offices of Jim Adler & Associates. Major event sponsors also include Methodist Hospital and Children's Medical Center. “PacifiCare’s African American Health Solutions is very excited to work with The Potter’s House in helping to improve the health of its congregation and the community,” said Corliss Hill, Director of Business Development. “Faith-based organizations are the cornerstones of their communities and the center of information, so we hope to continue to work with The Potter’s House and other churches that are leading the way to better health.” |
