The Adopt-A-Prison's program objective is to provide inmates with training to reintegrate and function in a community through the ministry of reconciliation and restoration and to provide a comprehensive education and life skills program that will help improve the lives of each inmate. That concept, coupled with Bishop's spiritual and motivational teaching, encourages inmates to change their thinking process, which ultimately changes their behavior.

Each Wednesday night Bible class at The Potter's House is up linked into prisons with satellite capabilities. Over 168 prisons in 22 states now have the technical ability to participate on the program. The Bible Class up-link is the catalyst for a television network complete with the programming that includes life skills classes, adult basic education, Sunday Night Live - programs featuring success stories - and mentoring programs. Bishop Jakes' visit to "remember those in prison as if you were fellow prisoners" is large enough that others may participate to swiftly fulfill this portion of the Great Commission. Through the Adopt-A-Prison program, the local church incurs the expense for purchase and installation of Winged Angels - C-band satellite dishes and receivers. The necessary equipment to receive the programming via satellite is included and installed as part of the $2,500.00 package. It is essential that churches become willing to provide
evangelism and discipleship for those incarcerated along
with support services, mentoring and an atmosphere of
acceptance to individuals that choose to join the participating
church upon their release.
