Pastor Roberto A. (Rob) Rocha
Pastor Roberto (Rob) Rocha is an Associate Pastor at The Potter’s House in Dallas, TX, and the pastoral overseer for the new, "Casa de Fe", Spanish Ministry, under the leadership of Founder and Senior Pastor Bishop T.D. Jakes. He began his journey into ministry at the age of 13 as a music minister in his home church of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg, TX, serving as a soloist for the choir, special music, and special events. In 2000, he formed the Covenant for Christ Praise Team, which led to Sunday evening contemporary services at El Buen Pastor. In 2001, he became the Children’s & Youth Minister for First United Methodist Church in Weslaco, TX and held that office while becoming certified to be a local pastor in the United Methodist Church. During this time, he led praise and worship for several children’s and youth camps and retreats, as well as men’s and women’s retreats including the Alpha program. He has been the dean of youth camps and has served on several youth boards and planning committees concerning children’s and youth ministries. In 2004, he was appointed the Associate Pastor at First UMC in Weslaco, serving in that capacity until April of 2006. During this period, Pastor Rocha became a presence in the local community, and was nominated and elected by the pastors of the city to serve as President of the Weslaco Christian Pastoral Alliance for 2004-2005. He has worked to unify pastors of all denominations, including Hispanic pastors of the area as well. He also became involved in missions, helping to renovate the La Mesa Mission of Weslaco, as well as building homes and leading a children’s Bible school in Rio Bravo, Reynosa, and Nuevo Progresso, Mexico. Because the area that Pastor Rocha is from (the Rio Grande Valley) is predominantly Latino, Spanish ministry just comes natural to him.
In April of 2006, Pastor Rocha came to Dallas, TX to serve as one of the associate pastors of The Potter’s House, specifically as pastoral overseer to ACTS 2 Evangelism, Guardians Street Ministry, International Language Ministry, International Local Ministries (African and Indian), and the new Casa de Fe Hispanic Ministry.
Pastor Rocha is a musician and recording artist, and has collaborated on several projects, including the Nolan Williams, Jr. project entitled, "inSpiration." Aside from this, he has also written articles and devotionals for several publications, both in English and Spanish. The most recent was the “Monthly Sermon” feature for the November 2007 issue of Epitome Magazine entitled, "Your Life’s 62."
In July of 2008, Pastor Rocha will begin serving as the pastoral overseer for the new Casa de Fe Spanish services at The Potter’s House, every Sunday afternoon at 4 pm. This Spanish ministry will reach thousands of Hispanics in the D/FW area and all across Latin America. Casa de Fe will also be a vehicle to help promote all of Bishop Jakes’ new materials that have been translated into Spanish, helping to get them into the hands of those who have a desire to be ministered to in Spanish.
Pastor Rocha is married to the "woman of his dreams," Pauline, who is the Spanish teacher for Clay Academy, the private Christian school of The Potter’s House, and shares in his love and commitment for reaching out to the Latino community. They have 4 children and 1 doggy, and currently reside in Duncanville, TX where they enjoy barbeque, garage sales, and time together.
Pastor and First Lady Rocha are committed to upholding Bishop Jakes’ vision of making The Potter’s House the international hub of churches around the world.
First Lady Pauline Rocha was born Pauline Colón on January 14, 1965 in Donna, Texas in an area known as the Rio Grande Valley. Her life as a migrant farm worker was challenging, but she went on to graduate from Donna High School and furthered her education by graduating from the University of Texas at Pan American in Edinburg, Texas with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She credits her mother with exemplifying excellent work ethic in her life, and her 2 daughters, Amanda and Samantha, along with her sister, Mari, with being the driving forces which led her to pursue a college degree.
She worked for the Donna Independent School District for 10 years as a Teacher’s Assistant and Parent Educator while pursuing her college education. She then went on to teach 5th grade for 3 years before being hired as a Reading Coach under the "No Child Left Behind Reading Initiative."
In March of 2005, she married Pastor Robert Rocha and shortly after, Pastor Rocha was hired as an Associate Pastor at The Potter’s House in Dallas, TX, under the leadership and direction of Bishop T.D. Jakes. They moved to Dallas on April of 2006, where she was hired by Clay Academy, the college preparatory Christian private school owned by The Potter’s House, to teach Spanish for students from PK3 to high school. She loves teaching the children to communicate in Spanish and to appreciate cultural and ethnic diversity.
Lady Pauline is a powerful woman of God, and is often called upon to be an intercessory prayer warrior for people and is always ready and willing to speak a word of peace, hope, and encouragement to women who find themselves in extreme, dire, and serious circumstances. Lady Pauline lives with her husband in Duncanville, TX, and enjoys quality time with her family and her little doggie, Lilly.
