T.D. JAKES WOMAN, THOU ART LOOSED! CONFERENCE SELLS OUT AND GENERATES $14.6 MILLION FOR HOUSTON

More Than 15,000 Women From Around the World Gather For a Life-Changing Weekend

The 2011 “Woman, Thou Art Loosed!” conference took place at Lakewood Church in Houston, the church home of Pastors Joel and Victoria Osteen from Thursday, October 20, 2011 through Saturday, October 22, 2011.  The theme was “Facing Forward.” 

 “The message struck a chord in the hearts of women, letting us know that it doesn’t matter how long we’ve been bent out of shape, that there is a liberating word that we can find,” said Mrs. Serita Jakes, author, conference speaker and executive director of The Potter’s House women’s ministry.

 “Woman, Thou Art Loosed!” conference also positively impacted the City of Houston. According to the Houston Convention & Visitors Bureau, the sold-out conference brought $14.6 million to the Houston area through direct and indirect spending.

As an added bonus, the live praise and worship moments were recorded for a CD & DVD entitled, “T.D. Jakes Presents ‘Woman Thou Art Loosed!’ 2011 – Facing Forward”. Gospel recording artists Anointed, Gaye Arbuckle,Joy Hill, Israel Houghton, and John Murray are featured.

This year’s conference also brought back the wildly popular segment called GirlTalk, a panel of experts that discussed the needs of women in finances, health, fitness and relationships. The event was free and open to the public. Held at Discovery Green in downtown Houston, the GirlTalk partnered with American Cancer Society, Sisters Network, Inc., The NFL Players Association and Dallas Cowboys star Bradie James’ Foundation 56 to bring cancer awareness, resources and information with on-site vendors. In further support of resources for women, The Potter’s House, along with the NFL Players’ Association donated $10,000 to the American Cancer Society. The GirlTalk segment closed with a special presentation to the Jakes by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. She called on all women military in the audience to help present the Jakes with an American flag and proclamation.

“Woman, Thou Art Loosed!” is a transformative message that began as a Sunday school curriculum in 1992 by Bishop T.D. Jakes to encourage women from all backgrounds, cultures and ages to find support and hope in God as they become stronger leaders in their families, churches, schools, communities and businesses.
