  • On Feb. 7, four of the Documented Original Tuskegee Airmen (DOTA) honored Bishop T. D. Jakes  with an autographed, commissioned, charcoal picture of their P-51 Red Tail plane during a visit to The Potter’s House of Dallas
  • Bishop Jakes is selected as one of the 25 Most Influential African Americans for Powerful Media’s Powerlist 2010: Britain's 100 Most Influential Black People. The publication which highlights “The Power After Obama,” is in association with Black Enterprise magazine
  • For its special Dec/Jan Celebration Issue Bishop Jakes is named to Ebony magazine’s annual “Power 150,” a listing of the most powerful change agents of our time

2009

  • For his health and humanitarian contributions, Bishop Jakes receives the first-ever Community Leaders Award from the National Association of Community Health Centers and the United Health Group during the Congressional Black Caucus, Sept. 25
    • Essence magazine presents Bishop Jakes with an All-Star Tribute, July 5

    2008

    • Bishop Jakes serves as correspondent for MSNBC during the 2008 presidential elections
    • Bishop Jakes announces the return of MegaFest, this time, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Through MegaCARE Missions, thousands of people were served and a large amount of medicine was donated to a local clinic in South Africa
    • Essence magazine presents Bishop T.D. Jakes with the 2008 President’s Award for his book, Reposition Yourself (Atria)
    • Bishop Jakes receives the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leadership Award from the Congress of Racial Equality
    • AIDS Institute honors Bishop Jakes with the 2008 Heroes in the Struggle Award

    2007

    • “Mama Made the Difference” wins the 38th Annual NAACP Image Award in the Instructional category.
    • Readers of The Church Report rank Bishop Jakes #4 among “The 50 Most Influential Christians in America.”
    • CNN names Bishop Jakes to their Blue Ribbon Panel, placing him in the company of 15 influential world leaders who are committed to improving the state of our world.
    • The Atlantic magazine includes Bishop Jakes to highlight in their 150th anniversary issue.
    • Bishop Jakes is named by Essence magazine to the “25 Most Influential of 2007.”
    • The Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award presented to Bishop Jakes by the Congress of Racial Equality.
    • 2008 Essence Literary Award given to Bishop Jakes for “Reposition Yourself.”
    • “Reposition Yourself” nominated for the 39th NAACP Image Award in the Outstanding Literary Work-Instructional.

    2006

    • “Mama Made The Difference” wins 2006 Quill Award in the Religion/Spirituality category
    • “Mama Made The Difference” reaches No. 4 on New York Times Hardcover Advice and How-To Best Sellers List
    • The T. D. Jakes Wing of the Melchizedek Hospital in Kenya is dedicated
