Frequently Asked Questions:
1. How do I start a newspaper for my
church?
Publications are relatively easy to launch, but they
can be difficult to maintain. Before you launch your
ministry's publication, do a lot of homework; learn
as much as you can about publishing and printing; study
your audience, and carefully define your publication's
goals and objectives. Books, your local library, and
the Internet are all possible resources.
2. How do I find a good printer in my area?
Again, education is key, so first begin by acquainting
yourself with the types of printing available and the
various terms and procedures related to the printing
process. For instance, know the difference between quick
and commercial print services and pre-press processing
and when one or the other should be used.
3. How do I publish my own book?
Book publishing is too broad a subject to thoroughly
cover in this limited space. However, there are fundamentals
to consider:
- § Book content and design: Visit local bookstores
and look for books similar in style to the type you
would like to publish. Buy the books that most closely
resemble what you have in mind and refer to them as
your models.
- § Book covers: Everyone knows you shouldn't
judge a book by its cover - but everyone does - readers,
retailers, wholesalers, and reviewers will all make
important decisions about your book based solely on
its cover.
4. Can we advertise in your publications?
Currently, the ministry is not accepting outside advertisements
for its publications.
5. How can I be placed on your mailing list to receive
your publications?
The Get Ready magazine is published quarterly and is
mailed at no charge to all partners of T.D. Jakes Ministries.
Membership in Aaron's Army, which is the partnership
division of T.D. Jakes Ministries, is available to all
who agree to pray for Bishop Jakes and the ministry
and contribute a monthly gift to the ministry of at
least $20.
6. Can I submit an article to be published in your
publications?
Because The Potter's House Times and Get Ready magazines
are preplanned, we are unable to accept unsolicited
articles.
